Santa at the Station

Santa at the Station – December 2026

Santa has once again found a little magic in his busy Christmas schedule and will be joining us at Midsomer Norton throughout the 2026 festive season.

Santa Trains run on:

Sunday 29th November, 5th & 6th December, 12th & 13th December, 19th & 20th December

with five trains per day at: 09.30, 11.00, 12.30, 14.00, 15.30.

Quiet Train

The 9.30am train on Sunday 29th November will be the Quiet Train - intended for those looking for a Santa experience without too much noise or crowds.  Numbers will be limited, and there will not be any music on the train.  All other aspects of the visit will be as described above.

Before booking, please read all information carefully. Making a booking confirms acceptance of our Terms & Conditions, including the updated guidance on amending bookings.

Your visit begins on the platform, dressed for Christmas with a cosy festive atmosphere. You’ll then board one of our decorated Mark 1 coaches for a 20‑minute round trip behind one of our home fleet locomotives. On returning to the Midsomer North Pole platform, you’ll head into Santa’s grotto where every child receives a wrapped gift. A children’s entertainer will be on hand at the station to keep little ones smiling, and don’t miss the snow booth - perfect for a fun family photo.

Children will receive a goody bag filled with festive treats and a drink, while adults can enjoy a standard drink and mince pie.

Our buffet car, station shop, and Emporium will all be open - ideal for picking up those last‑minute Christmas gifts.

Tickets

This year all bookings will be in Compartments - either a Private Compatment for groups of 4 or more, or a Shared Compartment for groups of 2 or 3. No more than two groups will share a Compartment.

Private Compartment bookings must include a minimum of 4 people (including adults and children aged 2 and above) and a maximum of 8 people.

A booking for an Shared Compartment must include a minimum of 2 people (including adults and children aged 2 and above) and a maximum of 3 people.

If the size of your party is larger than the maximum for a single compartment then you may book additional compartments during checkout.  If you’re not sure on the best ticketing option then please contact us by emailing:  sales@sdjr.co.uk

During the booking process, we will ask you to confirm the age of the children in your group, in order to ensure Santa brings the right presents for everyone.  If you have any special dietary requirements or allergies that we should be aware of you can add this information in the booking.

***Important message from Santa’s helpers: when prompted during booking don’t forget to include the requested information on the age range of your party and add this to your basket. You’ll be asked for this after you’ve selected the time of your train***

Prices

Due to the continuing high costs of operating heritage railways, we have reluctantly had to increase prices for our 2026 Santa services.  Each passenger aged 2 and above will pay the equivalent of  £17 for a seat in an Shared Compartment (minimum 2 people) or £19 for a seat in a Private Compartment (minimum 4 people).  We assume that children under 2 sit on a lap so there is no charge for a seat, but there is a small supplemental charge of £6.00 to cover the cost of the present and refreshments (where appropriate).

Price includes the following: train ride; children's entertainer; visit to Santa’s Grotto; wrapped gift and goody bag containing festive treats and a drink for children, plus a standard drink  and mince pie for adults.

Additional Information regarding access.

There is limited space in our 1950s style carriages, so we ask that, where possible, pushchairs are not carried onto the train but left under the platform shelter, where they will be safe.

Wheelchairs can be accommodated in the guard’s compartment and can be accompanied by 2/3 people.  Wheelchairs can also be accommodated in Santa’s grotto.

Due to the nature of this event no dogs please other than Assistance Dogs.

Parking at our site will be limited and reserved for disabled passengers.  Please use Norton Hill School, or South Road Car Park.  Both are situated a short walk from the railway.
